Be organised - This reduces stress and the risk of errors. Keep records of clients stored online so you can access details on the move.
Keys - If you're looking after keys use a secure keyring and label each client. Dont use the real name or address but a code that will help you remember.
Notes - Write clear detailed notes while speaking to a client. Its easier than you think to forget. If in doubt get the client to detail the request in an email or write it down while you're there with them.
Treats - Keep some pet snacks on hand in case you have trouble getting the pet to move in or out of the house or in and out of transport.
Holidays - Christmas and Easter holidays are always busy. Consider adding a surcharge over the public holiday days. Most services do this.
Make sure your clients remember you. You do a great job so make sure you continue to get the business. Leave business cards or discount coupons when you leave.
References - People feel more secure if you have good references that can confirm what a great job you do.
Police checks - It is worth the small investment to have a personal police check completed. This will help new clients feel comfortable.
Tax - Accepting cash that you dont declare is illegal. Keep records of all transactions and declare all your income.
Website - Having a simple website online is a great way to attract new customers. Submit your website to directories to help people find you.
